Leicestershire Bolster T20 Campaign with Signing of Experienced All-Rounder Paul Stirling
In a major boost for Leicestershire’s T20 campaign, the Foxes have secured the services of seasoned all-rounder Paul Stirling. The club’s director of cricket, Claude Henderson, praised Stirling’s extensive county and international experience, highlighting his ability to score quick runs at the top of the order and contribute with the ball.
Leicestershire, who are seeking their fourth T20 title and first in 13 years, currently occupy third position in their group as they gear up for two crucial East Midlands derby games against Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire this weekend. Stirling, who has played 355 T20 matches in his career, including stints with the Southern Brave and Oval Invincibles in the Men’s Hundred, is confident that the team’s position in the table puts them in a strong contention for a home quarter-final.
“We’ve got two huge games coming up, and with the way the table’s shaping up, we’re in a great position. Hopefully, we can get a win or two more and put ourselves in strong contention for a home quarter-final,” Stirling added.
The experienced all-rounder’s recent performances have been impressive, as evidenced by his 313 runs in 13 games for the Birmingham Bears in 2022, including a stunning 46-ball century on his debut. Stirling has also made two more appearances for the Edgbaston-based side in 2023, the last of which resulted in a win over Leicestershire.
