Concerns Loom Over T20 World Cup Semi-Final Between England and India

The highly anticipated T20 World Cup semi-final between England and India is set to take place in Guyana, but concerns are mounting over the unseasonably warm weather conditions that could potentially lead to the match being washed out.

“The weather gods are definitely on India’s side in this one,” a source close to the ICC’s weather monitoring team said.

With no reserve day in place for the semi-final, if the match is abandoned, India will progress to the final by default, having topped their group.

The pitch at the Providence Stadium in Guyana is expected to offer minimal bounce and lavish turn, which could play into the hands of India’s three specialist spinners compared to England’s lone spinner Adil Rashid.

Furthermore, the match will be abandoned if 10 overs per side cannot be played, rather than the usual 5 overs, potentially giving India an even greater advantage.

England have largely reached this stage by dominating the smaller teams, with their only big performance being against West Indies. It remains to be seen whether they can replicate that level of play against the formidable Indian team.

The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM BST, subject to the weather conditions.
