Ollie Robinson Joins Trent Rockets Ahead of The Hundred 2024
In a significant move ahead of the upcoming Hundred cricket tournament, England Test bowler Ollie Robinson has been signed by the Trent Rockets as a wildcard pick. The 30-year-old, who has yet to feature in the competition despite being signed by Manchester Originals and Northern Superchargers in 2021 and 2022, will now have the opportunity to showcase his skills in the 100-ball format.
The wildcard selections, which include two picks for both the men’s and women’s teams, were made based on standout performances in the T20 Blast and the Charlotte Edwards Cup.
Robinson, who has taken eight wickets in eight Blast matches for Sussex this season, will be looking to make an impact with the Trent Rockets in the upcoming Hundred tournament.
The Hundred 2024
The Hundred 2024 is set to commence on July 23, with a double-header between Birmingham Phoenix and Oval Invincibles. The Invincibles claimed the men’s title in 2023, while the Southern Brave emerged victorious in the women’s competition.
Alongside Robinson’s signing, the Hundred has also seen other notable additions to the rosters:
- Leg-spinner Mason Crane has been signed by the Welsh Fire.
- Former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara will join the London Spirit.
- World Cup winner Fran Wilson has been picked up by the Phoenix.
