Northamptonshire Clawing Back into Gripping County Championship Clash Against Glamorgan

Cardiff, 25th June 2024 – In a thrilling Vitality County Championship match, Northamptonshire fought back on the penultimate day, reducing the deficit against Glamorgan to just 25 runs with six wickets in hand as they head into the final day’s play.

Glamorgan, who had extended their first-innings lead to 211 runs, found their lower-order run-scoring a concern as Mason Crane and James Harris put on a 63-run stand, followed by a 53-run partnership between Crane and Andy Gorvin, taking their team to a formidable total of 490.

Northamptonshire’s response was led by a resolute 99-run knock from Ricardo Vasconcelos, ably supported by a fighting 55* from Luke Procter. However, the introduction of Glamorgan’s leg-spinner Crane in the final session breathed new life into the match, as he dismissed Vasconcelos and Rob Keogh in quick succession to leave the visitors reeling at 236/4, just 25 runs ahead.

“The final day promises an intriguing conclusion, with Northamptonshire aiming to build a substantial lead and Glamorgan eager to claim early wickets to push for victory.”

The Chester le Street Cricket Club and its passionate fans will be eagerly anticipating the final day’s play at the Chester le Street Cricket Ground.
