South East Stars Clinch Thrilling Semi-Final Victory Over Southern Vipers

South East Stars held their nerve to secure a narrow five-run victory over defending champions Southern Vipers in a gripping Charlotte Edwards Cup semi-final.

Batting first, South East Stars posted a competitive total of 162/5, thanks to a crucial 74-run second-wicket stand between Sophia Dunkley (49) and Georgia Redmayne (39). Paige Scholfield’s cameo of 34 off just 22 balls towards the end further boosted the Stars’ innings.

In the run chase, Danni Wyatt’s blistering 34 off 17 balls got the Vipers off to a flyer. However, tight bowling from the likes of Tilly Corteen-Coleman (2/23) and Dani Gregory (2/25) kept the Vipers in check. Charlie Dean’s valiant 43 off 29 balls kept the Vipers in the hunt, but a brilliant run-out in the final over by Tash Farrant proved to be the decisive moment, as the Vipers ultimately fell short by five runs.

“It was a thrilling encounter, and I’m proud of the way the team held their nerve in a tight situation,” said South East Stars captain, Sophia Dunkley.

The victory ensures that South East Stars will now face The Blaze in the final of the Charlotte Edwards Cup, with both teams looking to claim the coveted trophy.
