Dominant England Bowlers Restrict West Indies in Thrilling 100-Ball Clash

In a highly anticipated 100-ball cricket match, the West Indies took on Afghanistan on the same ground earlier this week. The visitors, the West Indies, managed to score a respectable 92 runs in the powerplay, but England proved more disciplined, conceding only 52 runs with just a single six hit during their opening spell.

The West Indies suffered an early blow when opener Brandon King had to retire hurt with an injured side after scoring 28 runs. Nicholas Pooran, who had made a blistering 98 just two nights ago, adopted a more cautious approach this time, failing to match his previous exploits.

England’s spinners, Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali, proved effective in containing the West Indies’ batsmen, who opted to milk the slower bowlers rather than go for an all-out attack, as many had expected.

Johnson Charles struggled to get going, managing 38 runs from 34 deliveries, before captain Rovman Powell attempted to inject some momentum with a six off Moeen and three consecutive boundaries off Liam Livingstone. However, Powell was ultimately dismissed for 36 off 17 balls, caught off Livingstone’s bowling.

“England’s bowlers maintained their discipline, with Jofra Archer removing the dangerous Pooran for 38 in the 16th over, which only went for four runs. Adil Rashid also chipped in, dismissing Andre Russell in his final over, which conceded just two runs.”

Archer, Rashid, Livingstone, and Moeen all finished with a wicket each, while Sam Curran, who was preferred over Chris Jordan and Will Jacks, bowled three tidy overs for 25 runs.
