Veteran All-Rounder Kedar Jadhav Announces Retirement from Cricket

On June 3rd, 2024, veteran all-rounder Kedar Jadhav announced his retirement from all forms of Cricket at the age of 39. Jadhav, who represented India in 73 ODIs and 9 T20Is after making his international debut in 2014, bid farewell to the sport he dedicated over a decade of his career to.

Hailing from Maharashtra, Jadhav first grabbed the cricketing spotlight in 2012 when he scored a triple century in the Ranji Trophy against Uttar Pradesh. The following year, he cemented his status as one of the top performers in domestic Cricket, finishing as the season’s highest run-getter in the Ranji Trophy with 1223 runs, including six centuries.

Jadhav’s consistent displays at the domestic level paved the way for his international debut in 2014, when he was selected for the ODI series against Bangladesh. Though he had to wait until November that year to earn his maiden cap, playing against Sri Lanka in Ranchi, Jadhav soon became a regular feature in the Indian national side.

“Over the years, the versatile cricketer showcased his all-round abilities, contributing significantly with both bat and ball.”

In 52 ODI innings, Jadhav amassed 1389 runs at an impressive average of 42.09, including two centuries and six half-centuries. With the ball, he picked up 27 wickets at an economy rate of 5.15.

Jadhav’s prowess was not limited to the international stage. In the IPL, he represented franchises such as Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, scoring 1196 runs at a strike rate of 123.17 in 93 matches. His domestic Cricket career was equally impressive, with 6100 runs in 87 first-class matches at an average of 48.03, including 17 centuries and 23 half-centuries.

The versatile cricketer’s final international appearance came against New Zealand in Auckland in 2020. Reflecting on his illustrious career, Jadhav took to Twitter to announce his retirement, thanking his fans and supporters for their unwavering love and encouragement throughout his journey.
